Mapping the 60s – Art Stories from the Collections of mumok.

Starting July 5th, mumok Vienna presents the exhibition Mapping the 60s”. It illustrates how significant socio-political movements of the 21st century – such as Black Lives Matter and #MeToo – have their roots in the 1960s. Artistic movements like Pop Art, Nouveau Réalisme, Fluxus, Viennese Actionism, Performance Art, as well as Concept and Minimal Art, bear witness to the upheavals of that era. The social and cultural developments of the 1960s have had fundamental influences on current discourses about media, technology, consumerism, and capitalism, as the exhibition highlights. The Ludwig Foundation is supporting this exhibition. We are pleased that this first part of the collection exhibition is available to the public following the extensive renovation phase. A note: the complete exhibition will open in December when all areas of Mumok are accessible again.
