REVISIONS made by the Warlpiri of Central Australia and Patrick Warehouse — Exhibition at Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, Cologne

We are delighted to support the new exhibition at Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum. With Revisions, the museum is taking a further step towards a critical reappraisal of European colonial history. A First Nations artists’ collective reinterprets object photographs from the collection, supported by Oliver Lueb, Head of Scientific Department of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum.

The respectful examination of the subject reflects our concern for international understanding. How can artistic means help to retell indigenous Australian stories? The exhibition invites you to explore these questions. The works of groups of artists from the Warlukurlangu Artists Centre in Central Australia and Patrick Warehouse, including the new two-channel video artwork The True Story, offer new perspectives on Australia’s colonial past of the Warlpiri groups.
